Countdown to the 23rd Annual Mushroom Festival
In about a month, the streets of Kennett Square will be filled with
thousands of visitors celebrating the region’s number one crop – the
mushroom. Plans are progressing to make the 23rd Annual Mushroom
Festival on September 6 and 7 bigger and better than ever before.
Below is up-to-the-minute information about deadlines and events
surrounding this year’s celebration.
Amateur Mushroom Soup Cook-off Contest deadline approaches
Do you have a family recipe for the best mushroom soup ever? Or do
you like the challenge of creating a new recipe? Do cooking
competitions get your adrenaline flowing as the minutes tick by and
the judges sample your creation? Do you want a chance to win $500
just for making the best batch of mushroom soup this year? Well if
you answered yes to any of the following questions, the Annual
Mushroom Soup Cook-off for Amateurs might be for you. It’s not too
late to get in the running for this annual event, which will be held
on Saturday, September 6.
Rules and applications are available on-line at
www.mushroomfestival.org and click on the link under “Registration
Forms.” Call 610-925-3373 to request a fax or the application to be
mailed.
Volunteers still needed Spend a morning or afternoon shift as a Mushroom Festival volunteer.
As an all-volunteer event, it takes hundreds of individuals to make
the Mushroom Festival a success. Assignments of all sorts are
available from selling wristbands, manning the information desks,
parking attendants, greeters, set-up, and general runners. A
registration form is on the website.
Where can I find more information? Bookmark the Mushroom Festival’s website
www.mushroomfestival.org
for up-to-date information about all things connected to the
Mushroom Festival. This event is constantly evolving as new authors,
chefs, and entertainers are scheduled. Order your wristbands,
tickets to the special events, mushrooms, and official souvenirs in
advance from the website.
Pocket brochures with maps and daily schedules are now available.
Call 610-925-3373 to request one or
fill out this form. The free Official Guide to the
Mushroom Festival is available in the August 31 edition of the
Chester County Press. Copies will be available at the Mushroom
Festival and placed throughout the region.
